  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 1/4 cup milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a sheet cake pan.
  2. Combine the flour, sugar, baking soda, and salt in a large bowl.
  3. Boil the butter and water in a saucepan, then stir in the cocoa powder.
  4. Combine the cocoa mixture with the dry ingredients until well mixed.
  5. Add vanilla, eggs, and sour cream, mixing until smooth.
  6. Transfer the batter into the prepared sheet cake pan.
  7. Bake in the oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  8. Prepare the frosting by mixing powdered sugar, cocoa powder, butter, and milk until smooth.
