Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • Salt
  • Pepper
  • 4 burger buns
  • Cheese (optional)
  • Condiments (ketchup, mustard, etc.)
  • Lettuce
  • Tomato
  • Onion (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat a skillet or griddle over medium-high heat.
  2. Form ground beef into loose balls—don’t compact them!
  3. Smash down the beef balls on the hot skillet with a spatula.
  4. Season the patties generously with salt and pepper.
  5. Cook until browned and crispy, about 2-3 minutes.
  6. Flip the patties and add cheese if desired.
  7. Cook for an additional minute to ensure the beef is fully cooked and cheese is melty.
  8. Toast the burger buns in the same skillet until lightly browned.
  9. Assemble your burgers with toppings and condiments of choice.

Notes

Make sure your skillet is hot enough before cooking, and rest your burgers for a minute after cooking before assembling.
