These Classic Sloppy Joes are a comforting American favorite, blending ground beef with a sweet and tangy sauce, served warm on soft burger buns.

  • 1 small onion, chopped
  • 1/2 cup ketchup
  • 2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 tbsp mustard
  • 1 cup water
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Brown the beef and onion: In a skillet over medium heat, add 1 lb of ground beef and 1 small chopped onion. Cook until the beef is browned and the onions are soft and translucent, about 5-7 minutes.
  2. Drain excess grease: Once cooked, carefully drain any excess grease from the skillet.
  3. Combine the sauce ingredients: Stir in 1/2 cup of ketchup, 2 tablespoons of Worcestershire sauce, 1 tablespoon of mustard, 1 cup of water, and season with salt and pepper.
  4. Simmer until thickened: Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer and let it cook for about 10-15 minutes, stirring occasionally.
  5. Serve on burger buns: When thickened, serve the savory meat mixture generously over soft burger buns.
