A nostalgic and creamy dessert combining layers of banana, custard, and vanilla wafers, bringing back sweet childhood memories.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 4 ripe bananas
  • 1/2 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups milk
  • 3 large egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • Vanilla wafers
  • Whipped cream (for topping)

Instructions

  1. Combine dry ingredients: In a saucepan, mix the sugar, flour, and salt. Slowly add the milk while stirring to avoid lumps.
  2. Thicken the mixture: Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens.
  3. Temper the egg yolks: In a separate bowl, beat the egg yolks and then slowly temper them with the hot mixture before returning it to the saucepan.
  4. Finish the pudding: Cook for another 2-3 minutes, then remove from heat. Stir in vanilla extract and butter.
  5. Layer the ingredients: In a serving dish, layer vanilla wafers, sliced bananas, and the pudding mixture. Repeat layers and finish with whipped cream on top.
  6. Chill before serving: Refrigerate for a few hours before serving.

Notes

Use ripe bananas for the best sweetness. Add whipped cream just before serving to maintain its texture.
