A comforting and nostalgic dessert featuring warm, sweet apples topped with a crispy oat mixture, perfect for family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 6 cups sliced and peeled apples
  • 1 teaspoon cinnamon
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 cup rolled oats
  • 1 cup flour
  • 1 cup brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Combine the sliced apples, cinnamon, sugar, and lemon juice in a large bowl.
  3. Pour the apple mixture into a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  4. Mix the oats, flour, brown sugar, softened butter, and salt in another bowl until it becomes crumbly.
  5. Sprinkle the oat mixture evenly over the apples.
  6. Bake for 45 to 50 minutes until the apples are tender and the topping is golden brown.
  7. Serve warm, optionally with vanilla ice cream.

Notes

Feel free to add raisins or cranberries for a fruity punch or use a mix of sweet and tart apples for more flavor.
