A quick and comforting dish combining tender beef with a sweet and savory sauce, perfect for busy weeknights.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 lb beef sirloin, sliced thinly
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 3 green onions, chopped
  • 1/2 cup soy sauce
  • 1/4 cup brown sugar
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • Cooked rice, for serving

Instructions

  1. Toss the sliced beef with cornstarch and let it sit for about 20 minutes.
  2. Heat the vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the beef in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan, cooking until browned on all sides.
  4. Remove the beef and set it aside.
  5. Add the chopped green onions, garlic, and ginger to the same skillet and cook until fragrant.
  6. Stir in the soy sauce and brown sugar, bringing the mixture to a simmer.
  7. Return the beef to the skillet and toss to coat it evenly in the sauce.
  8. Serve the Mongolian Beef over cooked rice, garnished with fresh green onions if desired.

Notes

For a thicker sauce, mix an additional teaspoon of cornstarch with a bit of water and add it to the simmering sauce.
