A simple yet flavorful recipe for Greek Chicken Gyros, featuring marinated chicken, fresh veggies, and creamy tzatziki sauce wrapped in warm pita.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 2 chicken breasts, sliced
  • 4 pita bread
  • 1 cup Greek yogurt
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 cucumber, diced
  • 1 tomato, diced
  • 1/2 red onion, thinly sliced
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon oregano
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Tzatziki Sauce: In a bowl, mix the Greek yogurt, minced garlic, olive oil, oregano, salt, and pepper to make the tzatziki sauce. Set it aside to allow the flavors to meld.
  2. Season and Cook the Chicken: Season the sliced chicken breasts generously with salt, pepper, and oregano. Cook them on a grill or stovetop over medium heat until fully cooked, about 6 to 7 minutes per side.
  3. Warm the Pita Bread: In a pan, warm the pita bread until soft and slightly toasted.
  4. Assemble the Gyros: Place a generous amount of cooked chicken in each warm pita. Top with diced cucumber, tomato, and red onion.
  5. Drizzle and Enjoy: Finish with a drizzle of tzatziki sauce and enjoy the burst of Mediterranean flavors.

Notes

Consider serving with crispy Greek potatoes or a Greek salad. Store leftover components separately in airtight containers.
