Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 block firm tofu
  • 3 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • 2 cups broccoli florets
  • 1 cup bell pepper, diced
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon ginger, minced
  • 1/4 cup soy sauce
  • 3 tablespoons sugar
  • 2 tablespoons rice vinegar
  • 1 tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch mixed with 2 tablespoons water
  • Cooked rice for serving
  • Sesame seeds for garnish
  • Green onions for garnish

Instructions

  1. Press the tofu to remove excess moisture, then cut it into cubes.
  2. Toss the tofu cubes in cornstarch until they are well coated.
  3. Heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat in a large pan; add the tofu and cook until golden and crispy.
  4. Add broccoli and bell pepper to the same pan; stir-fry until tender.
  5. Stir in garlic and ginger; sauté for another minute.
  6. Mix soy sauce, sugar, rice vinegar, and sesame oil in a small bowl; pour over the vegetables.
  7. Add the tofu back to the pan, tossing everything to coat in the sauce.
  8. Stir in the cornstarch-water mixture to thicken the sauce.
  9. Serve over cooked rice, garnished with sesame seeds and green onions.

Notes

To maximize crispiness, press the tofu well before cooking. You can substitute veggies as per availability, and for a spicy kick, add chili flakes to the sauce.
