A comforting and easy-to-prepare Biscuits and Gravy Casserole that captures the flavors of a classic southern breakfast.

Ingredients

  • 1 can of refrigerated biscuits
  • 1 pound of breakfast sausage
  • 2 cups of milk
  • 3 tablespoons of all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon of black pepper
  • 1 cup of shredded cheese (optional)
  • 4 eggs
  • Salt to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Brown the sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned.
  3. Remove the sausage and drain excess fat, then add flour to the skillet and mix for about 1 minute.
  4. Create the gravy by gradually whisking in the milk and cooking until thickened.
  5. Assemble the biscuits by cutting them into quarters and spreading them in a greased casserole dish.
  6. Pour the sausage mixture over the biscuits.
  7. Whisk the eggs and pour them evenly over the casserole.
  8. Top with shredded cheese if desired.
  9. Bake for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and set.
